PREPARATION

For dough, buy pre-made dough, or make it! If you opt to make it, first mix together flour, sugar and salt.  Cut butter into the flour mixture so that it’s crumbly. Mix in lemon juice and then put dough on lightly floured counter and pat it together to make one uniform piece. Flatten into a disk, wrap in plastic and chill for 2 hours, or up to 3 days.

Heat the oven to 400 degrees.  Slice 5 apples, core and soften in the microwave for 1 minute. Set aside. Melt butter. Set aside. Toss together sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon & allspice.

Roll the dough out into a rectangle, cut 2 inch by 12 inch strips. Spread melted butter over a strip of dough; top with a generous amount of cinnamon sugar mix. Overlap apple slices along the edge of dough, leaving room at the bottom. Fold bottom half of dough over the apple slices. Carefully roll the folded apple strip to form the rose pastry. Continue this process until you run out of dough. Place the apple rose pastry in a baking dish ( lined with parchment paper) then sprinkle more cinnamon sugar mix over the pastry and place in the oven to bake for 35-40 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes ,dust with powdered sugar and Bon Appétit!
